Kirtan Mantra, Music & Story
18 Oct 7.30-9.00pm
Event Description
The Herdman Healing Sanctuary is a perfect venue to invite you to join us for the uplifting practice of Kirtan – voice meditation practice. Kirtan is a meditation practice, where we use our voices and music to connect inwards. It is part of the Bhakti Yoga tradition, the Yoga of devotion. Together, we will be chanting simple, yet powerful mantras to a melody accompanied by the harmonium and drum. Singing and chanting mantra positively impacts our physical and mental health, and collectively we all benefit from the vibration. The chants will be led in traditional call and response, and at other times we will chant as a collective group. During our time together we will explore 3/4 different mantras, with pauses in between for poetry and stories about the mantra. Holly Hood has been leading Kirtan since 2017 and she uses mantra in her own life on a daily basis to support her in raising her two young children! Holly studied with Nikki Slade and has accompanied Nikki to festivals in the UK to offer Kirtan. This session is open to and accessible to everyone. You don’t need to be a singer to join us, just the desire to come and enjoy this beautiful heart-felt practice!
